The HighPrep™ Viral-Pathogen DNA & RNA Kit is a paramagnetic bead-based kit designed for rapid isolation of viral, bacterial, and fungal nucleic acids from whole blood, serum, plasma, saliva, urine, and other body fluids, as well as nasopharyngeal swabs soaked in virus transport media or other compatible buffers. The upgraded chemistry delivers high-recovery, high-quality DNA and RNA that support sensitive detection even at low pathogen loads and consistent performance in inhibitor-rich samples. The purified nucleic acids are ready for direct use in downstream applications such as RT-qPCR, RT-PCR, PCR, NGS, and other DNA/RNA-based workflows. The kit supports both low-throughput manual protocols (using magnetic stands or racks) and high-throughput automated workflows on KingFisher™ Flex and other nucleic acid purification instruments. The same core chemistry is used across multi-pathogen workflows and diverse sample matrices to minimize re-validation, making it easy to scale from method development to routine testing while maintaining assay consistency.

- Enzyme digestion: Digest microbial pathogens with LES I and LES II to promote efficient downstream lysis.
- Lysis: Lyse cells to release DNA and RNA into solution using Lysis Buffer and Proteinase K.
- DNA binding: Bind nucleic acids to MAG-S1 particles in the presence of 100% Isopropanol and a chaotropic salt. NBE enhances nucleic acid binding to the beads.
- Bead wash: Wash MAG-S1 particles with Wash Buffer followed by 80% Ethanol to remove contaminants.
- Nucleic acid elution: Elute nucleic acids by adding a low-molarity, mildly basic buffer, releasing DNA/RNA from the beads into Elution Buffer.
