MagBio Genomics and Gilson Announce Partnership to Advance Automated Genomic Sample Preparation

MagBio Genomics and Gilson are partnering to combine MagBio’s 13 years of experience in biological sample preparation, including magnetic bead-based technologies, with Gilson’s established liquid-handling and laboratory automation capabilities, creating a more streamlined path from biological sample to sequencing or molecular analysis.

Many genomic laboratories still perform critical sample preparation steps manually or integrate reagents and instruments independently. This can increase hands-on time, introduce workflow variability, and make it more difficult to scale consistent processing across sample types and throughput requirements.

Through a co-marketing and technical partnership, MagBio Genomics and Gilson will work together to develop and validate automated workflows that pair selected MagBio magnetic bead-based nucleic acid extraction, purification, cleanup, and size-selection solutions with Gilson PIPETMAX® automated liquid handling platforms. The collaboration is intended to help laboratories simplify implementation while improving efficiency, reproducibility, and scalability.

Initial work will center on selected genomic sample preparation applications where reagent performance and liquid handling must operate as one coordinated workflow. Specific applications, products, and validated methods will be announced as technical development progresses.

The broader goal of the partnership is to make automated genomic sample preparation easier to evaluate, implement, and scale. By developing workflows in which chemistry and automation are optimized together, MagBio Genomics and Gilson aim to help laboratories move from manual or fragmented processes toward more efficient and reproducible operations.
