MagBio’s New Long-Read Sequencing Technology: SFD-HT
SFD-HT (Short Fragment Depletor – High Throughput) is MagBio Genomics’ patent-pending, tunable paramagnetic bead-based reagent technology designed to optimize DNA input for long-read sequencing workflows. By selectively depleting short DNA fragments, SFD-HT enriches high-integrity long DNA molecules that improve average read length and maximize sequencing efficiency across complex genomic applications.
Designed for both manual and automated workflows, SFD-HT integrates seamlessly from benchtop research to high-throughput sequencing environments. The technology is compatible with Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT), PacBio, and emerging long-read sequencing platforms, and is available for early evaluation and OEM integration discussions.
Applications Include:
- Structural Variant Analysis: Detect large deletions, inversions, duplications, and complex rearrangements with long contiguous reads.
- De Novo Genome Assembly: Improve assembly continuity and resolve repetitive genomic regions.
- Cancer Genomics Research: Support detection of structural alterations and fusion events.
- Rare Disease Research: Preserve long-range genomic information for variant phasing and structural variant discovery.
- Metagenomics and Microbiome Studies: Improve strain-level differentiation and metagenome assembly quality.
By enabling tunable depletion of shorter DNA fragments, SFD-HT gives researchers greater control over DNA optimization for long-read sequencing and library preparation workflows.
SFD-HT expands MagBio’s portfolio of advanced paramagnetic bead-based technologies designed to improve genomic workflow performance and advance next-generation sequencing innovation.
